BOB MAMET BIO

Bob Mamet is an internationally acclaimed, 7-time chart-topping pianist and composer celebrated for his melodic, vibrant style. The Chicago Tribune proclaims him, "a serious artist addressing important compositions [with] a silvery touch," while the Chicago Sun-Times calls him simply "The Natural.”

 

Bob studied under Oscar-winning composer Julio Esteban at the Peabody Conservatory while attending Johns Hopkins University. Later, in Los Angeles, he trained with Dick Grove at the renowned Dick Grove School of Music. In Los Angeles, Mamet completed more than one hundred projects in television, film and advertising — including work on the hit show The Wonder Years — before moving back to his hometown of Chicago where he now resides.

 

Bob Mamet’s debut album Signs of Life earned him a Grammy entry list spot, and led to a 12-year record deal with Atlantic Records, where he was mentored by Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. He has also recorded with Sony and Warner Brothers. During his time with Atlantic, Bob Mamet continuously resided in the top ten on the national Jazz charts, hitting number one seven times. His music has sold over 750,000 records and received more than one million radio plays worldwide. His discography spans five acclaimed albums, including Signs of Life, Day into Night, Adventures in Jazz, Impromptu and London House Blues. His most iconic composition Greenstreet topped the charts for seven weeks and remains one of the top Contemporary Jazz singles of all time. 

 

Bob Mamet performs worldwide, collaborating with acclaimed artists, such as seven-time Grammy-winning drummer Paul Wertico. Bob's album London House Blues debuted in Paris to standing ovations, with Jazz Hot Magazine praising his perfect “dichotomy of sweetness and fire!” He is currently completing a new Solo Piano album titled Seabird.
